Week #39 Romans 12:11-12

Romans 12:11-12

“Never be lacking in zeal , but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

As followers of Christ we best represent our Savior when our life is lived out with zeal and spiritual fervor as Paul shares here in Romans 12:11-12. He suggests zealous living is evident in those who serve the Lord. Our zeal shines through as evidence of our joyful hope, our patience in affliction, and our faithfulness in prayer.

Self reflection is always good.  Let’s do a zeal heart check.

Heart Check Questions:

Are we serving the Lord?

Are we joyful in our hope in the Lord?

Are we patient in affliction?

Are we faithful in prayer?

Our heart check helps us to refocus and help us be more intentional about staying plugged into our power source for zeal and spiritual fervor.

Week #38 Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah 40:31

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

A life lived with hope in the Lord is one marked by strength and endurance. When our hope is secure in the Lord we are able to see our life from an eagles perspective and recognize the temporary as minor and the eternal as important.

Our hope also empowers us as we trust in the Lord in every situation. Let’s live lives marked by strength and endurance as we secure our hope in the Lord.

Week #37 Philippians 1:9-11

Philippians 1:9-11

“And this is my prayer that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.”

This weeks verse is also my prayer for each of you who read this post. I encourage you to embrace this prayer for your family and loved ones as well.

Keep growing daily in the love of Christ.

Week #36 Psalm 20:7

Psalm 20:7

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

What are the chariots and horses of our modern day life that the world trusts in more than God?   These are some of the first things that come to my mind~  technology, financial security, higher education, physical ability, and the list goes on.

What does it mean to trust? Many in our world today struggle with trust and cling to control out of fear of being disappointed or hurt. Trust is defined by Webster Dictionary in the following ways:

– belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, ect

– an assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something

-confidence is placed in someone or something

-have hope is someone or something to follow through on promised results

While reviewing trust defined did any personal “chariots and horses” come to mind? Let’s try to personalize this verse to help reinforce our trust in the Lord. Here are a few examples of mine:

  • Some trust in the wisdom and skill of their surgeon and modern medicine, but I trust in the Lord to use these tools for His glory and victory in my life.
  • Some trust in their own abilities and knowledge to guide them to victory each day but I trust in the name, power, wisdom, and love of the Lord to guide me to daily victory for him.

I’d like to encourage you to share your “trust in the Lord” statements in a comment below. I know it will encourage someone and reinforce our trust in the Lord.
