Week #45 Colossians 3:2

Colossians 3:2Colossians 3:2
English: World English Bible - WEB

2 Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Everyday is full of choices.   We get to choose our attitude, our thoughts, and our responses as we navigate the bombardment of each days activities and responsibilities.  Would you agree that our attention is given to the things that we place the greatest value on?  It is challenging to keep our minds set on any one thing for very long.    To set our mind is a deliberate choice to direct our thoughts with fixed attention, with or without care  I know it is a challenge for me to remain diligent with my mind set how about you?

Where is your mind set……

the things of of God or the things of this world?

What do we value most?

Week #31 Hebrews 4:12

Hebrews 4:12Hebrews 4:12
English: World English Bible - WEB

12 For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

“For the word of God is alive and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

This verse is a powerful reminder of why we are to daily read and think on the word of God.  If we are truly seeking the Lord then prayerfully reading His word will be a continuous part of our relationship with Him.  To prayerfully read the word of God in a thoughtful manner that allows it to soak into the fabric of our heart is key to growing in deeper relationship with the Lord.

The writer of Hebrews ensures us we won’t be disappointed~

The Word of God is~

Active and Alive Daily fresh and relevant to sustain us like the daily mana sustained the Israelites in the desert.

Penetrating Sharpness– Personalized and specific to our lives needs for healing and restoration.

Judges– Reveals His truth in our thought life and hearts.

Lord, as we read your word this day open our hearts and minds to experience your word as it is alive, active, with penetrating-sharpness, and truthful judge of us each individually.  We desire to be drawn closer in daily relationship with you.  Speak to us through your Word.  Thank you for your word and it’s life giving power.

In Jesus Holy name, Amen

Week # 4 Wisdom Builder Romans 12:2

As we begin the last full week of January it is a good time to assess how we are doing following our plans for transformation in 2017.  If you are anything like me the first few weeks went pretty well.   Then the pace picked up again.   I found my old habits start sneaking up on me again.  This weeks verse–Romans 12:2Romans 12:2
English: World English Bible - WEB

2 Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

WP-Bible plugin
– is a reminder as we seek to follow the Lord more deeply that we must renew our minds to the pattern of the Lord rather than the pattern of the world.
Our weekly scripture memorization is an important part of transforming our thoughts and conforming our behavior to those that please the Lord.
