Reflective Encouragement Royal Reflections

Lost in Translation

The reflection of letters and words are easily distorted by a mirrored reflection. I didn’t really consider that until I started doing zoom and other video recording to teach people concepts. Thank goodness there are settings that help correct that problem.

It is so easy for things to get lost in translation.   I’m so thankful that I know one thing that gets better through translation— our prayers!

Yep, the Bible reminds us that the Holy Spirit improves our prayers; I’m not making this up. Romans 8:26-27Romans 8:26-27

, tells us the Spirit both prays for us when we don’t know what to pray and intercedes for us to help us pray according to God’s will.

Awesome! I need all the help I can get.   How about you?

If the Bible is true and Paul is right, why do tend to feel inadequate in prayer? I think it is partially because we have been looking at a distorted reflection of our prayers.

What distorts our prayer reflection?        Many things….

May I propose the distorted projection begins in our mind where the perception of perfect prayers develop and our need for acceptance and fear of rejection mingle and cause us to lose sight of the truth that the Lord just wants to talk with His children heart to heart.

I’m so thankful that Jesus us gives us some great tips for praying in Matthew 6:5-13Matthew 6:5-13

.   His prayer example only has 53 words (in the NIV) and the majority of the words are four letters or less.   Jesus tells us God isn’t looking for eloquent speeches in prayer. He is most interested in us pausing to talk to him and express faith in His ability to provide exactly what we need. How can I say that? Well Jesus tells us in verse 8 that “your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

Jesus came so our relationship with Him and Father God would be simplified not complicated.   Prayer gives us direct access and Jesus’ shared a personal prayer guide to help us come to the Lord with confidence and reverence.   Jesus even gave the new Church and us a guide to help us get started. It is fondly referred to as the Lord’s Prayer.

The elements of the prayer take us through a progression starting with honoring God’s holiness, recognizing our desire to see the Lord’s Kingdom come to earth and His will be done on earth, and then we move into asking for Him to provide our daily needs, repent of our sins, asking for Him to keep us from temptation and be delivered from the evil one.

Does Jesus prayer guide help you see your prayers with a less distorted view and more confidence?

I pray your answer is, “yes”.   Because it is our prayers that will bring God’s heavenly Kingdom and will down to the earth.

Through our prayers we open our hearts and minds up to be transformed into the image of Christ, to love like Christ, to forgive as Christ forgives, to serve as Christ, and to lead as Christ.   As we individually, engage in prayer and are transformed in Christ it also activates the Body of Christ to work together in oneness with the Spirit as we have been designed to do.

God’s perfect will His Kingdom reign on earth as it is in heaven.

Keep praying, let’s bring heaven down.
