“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”
What does it mean to do everything in love? Let’s apply this to our relationships. Why would I take that leap? I am doing it because here in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians he starts and ends addressing relationship issues within the church. 1 Corinthians is full of rich instruction that crescendos with his description of what love is meant to look like in our relationships.
How do we apply the “Be” and “Do” statements in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 to our relationships?
Be on our guard in love…….
Stand firm in the faith in love………
Be courageous in love……….
Be strong in love………….
Our relationships have times that call for us to be on guard, to stand firm in our faith, to be courageous, and to be strong is part of living a life of love like Jesus. All throughout his ministry on earth he left examples of how to love people well with strength, courage, and standing as a firm guard of the faith. Love fulfills the greatest commands and knows no boundaries.
I have room for improvement, how about you?
Love is….. kind, patient, it rejoices in truth, it always–protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres– never fails.
Love is not…… boastful, envious, prideful, self-seeking, angered easily, or delight in evil.
Be Alert~ Stay Strong~ Pray Always
