Reflections of Life

Steady Trust Despite

Despite what our ears are hearing and our eyes are seeing we are called to trust.   We are called to stand steady in trusting prayer.

I don’t think it a coincidence that our theme this week is leaders.   Today is definitely a day that we need to be taking our leaders at all levels and in all nations before the Lord in prayer.

Personally my heart is crying out all day long in prayer for the precious innocent people of Ukraine and Russia.   I’m very confident I’m not the only one. My prayers also include prayers for the leaders to be moved by the Lord to humble themselves before him so they will be lead by the Lord’s divine wisdom.

In times like these it is challenging to keep our eyes on the Lord and stand steady as we trust the Lord rather than the things of this world.   Our reflective verses for the week, Psalm 20:6-7Psalm 20:6-7

, is a wonderful reminder that the Lord hears our prayers and gives victory to those who call on His name and trust Him.

I want to share the verses here and I’m also include verses 8 and 9 for good measure.

Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. Lord, give victory to the king!

Do you feel the conviction of David the writer of this Psalm?

Let his words ring through your heart with an infusion of faith, hope, and love that girds up your trust in the Lord.

I wrote a great article on this verse so if you feel like you need more girding up of your trust here is a little snippet for encouragement.

“The first step to trusting God is awareness of what we are trusting instead of Him.  Then to begin the shift of where we put our trust we must acknowledge change is necessary to shift from “the object or person of trust” to the Lord.

Once we identify and acknowledge the need to change we have a choice to take action or not.

Let’s take action today.   Start by personalizing this verse to help reinforce our trust in the Lord. Here are a few examples of mine:

  • Some trust in the wisdom and skill of their surgeon and modern medicine, but I trust in the Lord to use these tools for His glory and victory in my life.
  • Some trust in their own abilities and knowledge to guide them to victory each day but I trust in the name, power, wisdom, and love of the Lord to guide me to daily victory for him.

I’d like to encourage you to share your “trust in the Lord” statements in a comment below. I know it will encourage someone and reinforce our trust in the Lord.”  (click here for the full article)
